Meet our Principal

Hello Bishop Community,

My name is Shanna Martin and I was fortunate to be selected as the principal for Bishop Elementary in 2016. I absolutely love being part of Englewood Schools and creating a place where our students Belong and Thrive! This will be my 9th year as a principal and my 20th year in elementary education. Over the last 20 years, I have worked in a variety of schools as an administrator, instructional coach, and classroom teacher. I am originally from Washington State and have called Colorado home for the last 17 years. At Bishop, I am committed to building a community of learning for our students, families, and staff. Nothing is more rewarding than being part of a learning environment where students are excited to come to school each day. Our staff strive to build this each and every day! Working as an educator continues to be an amazing experience and I look forward to meeting you whether you are a new family or returning family to Bishop. When I am not at Bishop, you can find me at a local soccer field or volleyball court cheering on my own kiddos, camping in our CO mountains, or curled up with a good book.

Commitment to Character

Be

Empathetic-put yourself in someone else’s shoes

Accountable-self-directed ownership

Respectful-integrity through relationship building

Safe-safe to be who you are in our diverse community

Students and staff at Bishop elementary use Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports to support a positive learning environment. Our students are very excited about being a BEAR and earn BEAR tickets for their character actions.

Our Bishop matrix is designed to identify expected behavior for all. Our teachers use our matrix to teach and reinforce positive behavior actions in all learning environments. See our matrixes below.
